MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: Pre-Order at Amazon

As much as I might gripe at/about them for things like the Mophie fiasco, Amazon is still usually the cheapest/fastest way for me to get new gear/software. This is especially true when buying Apple products, as going through an Apple Store (even the online one) will always be more because they charge sales tax in every state.

Amazon has begun taking orders for the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard upgrade. Going to pick mine up in a few minutes. For your convenience, some links.

I find Apple’s approach to multiple licenses interesting. Technically (unless they’ve changed something), you can buy the single user version and install it on an unlimited number of computers, as it doesn’t require any sort of activation. The only reason the family pack is available, as far as I can tell, is to service those with the sufficient budget-to-conscience ratio to want to pay extra to have a fully licensed copy of the operating system on each of their computers, even though Apple doesn’t verify your license status in any way, shape, or form.

For the record, I buy the family pack, as much as my wallet screams at me to do otherwise. My love of all things Apple helps compel me, and I just know that somewhere at Apple HQ, someone is cackling at just how insane Apple brand loyalty/fanboyism really is. Join us. We have brownies, and … iThings.

For those who need Snow Leopard Server, I’ve included a link for that as well. Looking at the price, I’m certainly glad I don’t need it. Yikes.

Just another month before 10.6 drops. Fun times. Peace.
